Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great appliance, but... Best grinder I've ever used. As a guy who really needs to measure any items relating to food, the cup tick marks on the bowl are much appreciated and have delivered accurate measurements to assure good coffee reliably. But... the plastic at the base of the steel bowl has broken twice now, for 2 different users (wife and I) with no rough handling. The first time I was able to superglue the piece back on and that worked fine. Today the plastic broke at an entirely different spot and into many pieces. I'll replace the part and keep using the grinder, but it's a disappointing weak spot apparently. Hence only 4 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2 years & grinds my coffee like Day 1 I continue to use this coffee grinder 1 to 2 times a week. I am happy to say it continues to work like new. My only issue is that I cannot fill the bowl to the high mark of the bowl. When I do, some beans do not get ground. Not a big deal, I just grind less than 12 cups at any one time. Otherwise, I have not experienced the problems that others have written in their reviews. One thing is certain, some seem to have not read the instructions. One writer said that they pulse grind like the instructions say. The instructions specifically says Do Not Pulse Grind. I like this grinder & I recommend it highly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grinds coffee and spices and many more Besides grinding coffee beans to perfection, this tiny beast helps me prepare my own Indian spice mixes from whole spices, elevating my cooking experience to new heights. I love this grinder. I get the exact texture I want, from coarse to fine as powder. Excellent product. A must have. The red one looks very pretty on countertops and has such a small footprint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful, doesn't take long to grind [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a Gift, In the beginning I believe I was grinding for too long, making the beans very fine and causing my coffee 'brew' to overflow into the coffeepot. I like my coffee strong and finally have gotten things under control where I don't grind as long and I still have my strong coffee without overflow into the pot and subsequent coffee grounds in my cup. I also find that after dumping the ground beans into the basket for brewing, the top edge of the metal container used to grind the beans, lets just say 'be careful,' I almost feel that I could cut myself on that metal cup.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beware the per cup markings Just got a BCG1110B a few days ago. We replaced the coffee pot at the same time. It took me a few days to check the fill lines and compare them to what it says in the user manual. I found that the 12 cup mark is 18 tablespoons, not 14 as it says in the manual. In fact all of the lines are for a number of tablespoons equal to 1.5 x number of cups. (I checked with several measuring device) Also note that the 8 to 10 distance and 10 to 12 distance are both one cm so it is unlikely the volume differences would be 3 and 2 tbsp. Anyway, it is easy to adjust, and I like being able to pour the coffee into grinder rather than count coffee scoops. Just beware, and perhaps the user manual can be updated or the markings on the grinder corrected in the next redesign.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken bottom on grinding cup. This would be a great grinder if there wasn't so much cheap plastic stuff on it. When you open the box it feels heavy and you'd think with a name like Kitchen Aid that was once synonymous with quality that it would last lifetimes, just like their mixers do. Alas, I've had this thing for less than a year and the plastic base/cup that screws the grinding cup onto the motor base has chipped off and fallen apart. I'm a pretty gentle user, and I only grind coffee maybe once a week, so it's not like it's undergoing heavy use here. Now the grinding cup can't be secured to the motor and this thing is little more than a loud expensive paperweight just taking up space in my kitchen. I am really disappointed with Kitchen Aid on this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Removable Bowl is the BEST This little grinder is excellent for what it is - a low-precision, coffee bean and large spices grinder. My housemate had this coffee grinder and I ended up with it when they moved - we've had it for a few years now and it is still going strong. It has a bit of trouble grinding the lighter things (like dried flower petals or whole coriander) but works like a charm for coffee and heavier spices (like cloves). We do pour over and french press for our coffee so we don't need a very exact grind size. My all-time favorite feature, though, and what will keep me coming back for this exact model when our old one dies, is the removable grinding cup. It's hard to express how handy it is not to have to lift the entire machine and shake it to get out the coffee grinds every morning, and how much less I am cleaning up spilled grinds. It's a small thing, but for daily use it makes all the difference in the world. Love this little grinder!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stopped working after light use - but I fiixed it? Received as a Christmas present a year ago, used extremely lightly (maybe ten times). Looks nice, grinds ok but a bit unevenly and don't fill the bowl a lot because bowl kind of leaks. After moving we unpacked it and it didn't work, at all, despite taking out bowl, double checking it was screwed in correctly, pressing hard, pressing lightly, tilting slightly, etc. Unplugged it and removed three screws on bottom. Poked around inside a little, and one square module part on the side maybe wasn't seated fully? Who knows, nothing obviously wrong and everything looked fine. I didn't do much. When I put it all back together - voila! It worked again. This is for the Black Onyx BCG111OB.
