[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is reassuring that there is an alarm system built in so, if the unit stops working, I will be aware of the problem before my food can thaw and spoil. The racks on the door that hold flat boxes is not big enough to hold 3 pizzas deep or wide. The most I can get in is 5 and those are really tight. Also, when the unit is filled the lighting leave a lot to be desired. The "cheese and butter" keeper on the door is rather unusual and not very practical. I had space left over due to odd size and need to get the clear lid closed when filled. I really like the shallow wire basket as it is very versatile.

Chest freezer I replaced was 45 years old whirlpool & never did anything but put food in & take out. Still works great. Biggest problem was buying ahead & losing track of food & it freezer burning. Plan on new freezer being able to keep track of food. Keep it used in timelier manner. Will sure enjoy self defrost feature also. Appliance dealer I have purchased from for many years is planning to retire soon & sure will miss his excellent service these past years. Luckily I have needed very little service. Purchasing excellent products is main reason for this.

I thought the freezer was working the first couple of weeks, but it turns out that the temperature in my garage was so cold (50F), it was helping it getting by. Now that the outside temp is up to about 70F, It simply isn't working as a freezer.This freezer is bad by design. It completely lacks a condenser coil (the part that dissipates heat - see pic where one condenser line runs out and back under the fridge with no coil). The compressor has been running non-stop and is so hot to the touch that it is heating up the metal above to scolding temps. Even the factory insulation melted off the condenser line. Do not even think about buying this freezer. Absolute garbage. And the so called Temperature Alarm, does not exist or does not work, because the temp is maybe 30F inside (a jug of water at the bottom is barely frozen) and no alarm has gone off.

My momma always told me to give commendation first. It is a very pretty frig. However, I don't care for the sensitivity of stainless steel. My biggest complaint would be how hard it is to remove the drawers for cleaning, almost impossible. Also the way the drawers are designed, food gets in under the plastic and can't get it out for cleaning. I think you should have a couple of ordinary housewives (term is probably politically incorrect) on your design team!

Rated 2 out of 5 by RWC, the old guy from NOT UP TO PAST STANDARDS [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased a month ago, so far it is a freezer like you would expect, however the size is not adequate - the temp controls (ON THE INSIDE) do little to warn you of condition or problems, no warning light or buzzer if temp falls below setting, or loss of power. The physical size width and height are out of norm for past standards as a built-in unit. Unit makes more noise than I would have expected. In short, this is a far cry from the quality I have come to expect. As I said, it freezes the food.

Around the closed door seal you could also see that the light in the freezer was still on. The motor was also running continuously. Despite this the food remained frozen. We called service and had a new freezer, same model, was delivered a week later. This freezer still runs frequently, but no longer sounds alarms and the light is not on. We have only had this freezer a week. I like its size and storage capacity. Hopefully there will be no further issues.

It runs quiet, freezes food items as expected, and looks nice. The wheels on the bottom make it so simple to move for cleaning under and behind it. There is so much room inside, the big basket on the bottom is so roomy. The shelves on the door are very sturdy. The light inside is very bright. This freezer is very well made; they didn't cheap-out on anything. And, It's Frost Free! I would HIGHLY recommend this Whirlpool Freezer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Doc "chopper John" from Reliable, simple operation and dependable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We chose this similar sized freezer to replace our previous model of a competitor's make because although it was less than 18 months old, the intricate electric panel controls were never correct and failed often making it unfit. We had absolutely no help from the dealer or the maker and lost not only some food but several hundred dollars... but we made sure it would be recycled and NOT resold. We have always had at least one Whirlpool appliance in our home and we trust them to work as designed, and they do without fail. On the negative side; my wife is not completely happy with the door compartment design, but she is making it work well enough for us now.
